The Day Lyme Changed Our Lives

August 7, 2015 is a day I'll always remember. It was the day we heard the words, "Your daughter has Lyme Disease."

We had no idea how life-changing Lyme Disease was.

My daughter's knee was swollen and she was in pain. We chalked it up to a soccer injury. After about 2-3 weeks of icing and anti-inflammatory essential oils/supplements with no change, we took her to an Orthopedic center. I’m so grateful for the Physicians Assistant we saw that day. After questions for my daughter about her knee, she came to the conclusion it ma

y not be an injury, but Lyme Disease or Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis. I was shocked. She drained her knee right then and there. She filled 3 large vials with yellow fluid. Sure enough, there was an infection. Our PA ordered a Lyme test. Her test came back positive. If it wasn’t for a medical professional that dug deeper than what she saw before her, it may have taken months or even years before we discovered she had Lyme Disease.

This was the beginning of a long and painful journey for our family. Since that day in August, myself and my son have been diagnosed with Lyme Disease. All three of us with completely different symptoms. I'll share those stories soon.
